A Brief History
Main School Building
ARPS, Phek

Assam Rifles Public School, Phek was established in the year 1964 by 14 Assam Rifles which was deployed in Phek District during that period. The school was provisionally recognised to the Education Department of Nagaland upto V std ( Primary level ) in 1978 and later in the year 1984 it was upgraded to VIII std (Middle School). As per directions of HQ DGAR, a case was initiated for affiliation with CBSE in 2003 and affiliation was granted in the year 2005 vide affiliation number 1430010, school code 32509. Due to the turnover of Bns and re- deployment of COBs towards the IMB area, there was a significant decrease in the number of families opting to stay at Phek. Hence in the year 2009-10, during the turnover of 33 Assam Rifles the strength in Assam Rifles Public School, Phek was reduced to nil, thereby leading to closing down of the school. The school was reopened with effect from 01 Apr 2014 by 46 AR. At present it is being run for class Nursery to V by 39 Assam Rifles.

However, the school has sought No Objection Certificate (NOC) and fresh provisional affiliation from the State Education Directorate Kohima (Nagaland) for the period of 3 years. The school is trying to seek CBSE affiliation this year.
